Bloom
Bloom consists of two individual wheel thrown pieces that stack to form a sculpture. Michelle was inspired by her love of Japanese kokeshi dolls, specifically a pair that she has from her late Ji-Chan, whose heads can be tilted and removed. Each section is hand painted and glazed. The cutie (orange) on top is a hollow closed form and can be removed from the base. The head can be rotated to show added personality. This piece is one of nine ceramic pieces originally on display for the Kiln Show at Giant Robot Gallery in April of 2024.
